Today, more than two decades later, schools and communities continue to use this month as an opportunity to <strong>educate, advocate, and act<\/strong> on behalf of the <strong>1 in 5 students with dyslexia\u2014<\/strong>or about 15-20%\u2014who have dyslexia or a language-based learning disability (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dyslexiacenterofutah.org\/Statistics?utm_source=chatgpt.com\">Dyslexia Center of Utah<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At Learning Ally, we\u2019ve been on this journey for more than 75 years\u2014helping schools and families understand the real challenges of dyslexia and, more importantly, how to address them. We know that dyslexia is not a reflection of ability or effort. It\u2019s a difference that requires <strong>understanding, the right tools, and proactive support.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-5-key-mindset-shifts-to-support-students-with-dyslexia\"><strong>5 Key Mindset Shifts to Support Students with Dyslexia<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This Dyslexia Awareness Month, we\u2019re inviting educators to go beyond awareness to change outcomes for students. What makes the difference is when school leaders and teachers <strong>shift their mindset<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>From seeing dyslexia as an isolated issue to making it a <strong>shared responsibility<\/strong> across the school<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>From assuming students need to \u201ctry harder\u201d to recognizing how hard they\u2019re <strong>already working<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>From focusing only on compliance to <strong>truly understanding<\/strong> student experiences<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>From waiting and watching to <strong>acting early and explicitly<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>From general awareness to <strong>taking immediate, empathetic action<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>These shifts are small in theory but powerful in practice.
